The federal rules of HIPAA insure that disclosing medical information without patient authorization is limited to what is necessary to treat patients, pay insurance claims or advise patient-authorized family members.

MaineGeneral Health has provided and continues to provide extensive training and education about medical privacy to our medical care staff and all of our employees. We also provide patient education.
